I'm loving this fall!

Each Columbus Day weekend I am blessed with family and friends in this beautiful place. We celebrate the end of "summer" together. We go to the Sandwich Fair, eat burritos, fried egg sandwiches, french fries and super sized eclairs. We visit the animals, ride the ferris wheel and look at community art. After the parade we eat soup before this beautiful mountain.

I'm struggling with some personal issues as most of us are. I need strength and faith to help me along my path.

I found this word as part of my "Picture Fall" photography workshop that I am participating in this October. I was asked to photograph a reminder. As I don't usually hang words of inspiration around my house, I went to my bookshelf to see what would inspire me. Faith. It conjures up confidence and assurance in something - Being positive. I need to hold onto the confidence that I can get through this. I think I can, I think I can.... I know I can, I know I can!

As the word Faith is going to help me let is also be there for you.

Spent a lovely evening with cousins looking out onto the state of Maine from the New Hampshire coast. Maine is hidden in this photo as the early morning fog had yet to burn off. I am blessed to have a great family who live in beautiful spots.

Friday morning seems like a perfect time to go surfing.... because time is limited I am going to limit myself to five things that interest me today.

Stumbled upon this through Angry Chicken. She wasn't linking to this but you know how it is. You get to Walnut Cake with jam and the next thing you know your salivating over black bean tacos with slaw and feta.

Who are these people and why do they intrigue me??

One of each please!!!! I will be following Bridgett more closely in the future.

I am getting inspired by the painting/photo in the background. I'm also loving the space though the tables are a bit weak. Thank you Desire to Inspire for having such a wonderful eye and bring such lovely spaces to me.

Snow day and home-made ginger ale

8 inches of snow and a few more predicted to arrive later this afternoon. Just as the snow banks were disappearing and the dead grass was showing through another storm decided to spruce things up a bit with a clean blanket of white powder. It was nice to spend a few extra minutes with my husband as we shoveled the driveway this morning. We work well together. Neither of us talk. Just plodding away in unison. He doesn't criticize my messy work; he just quietly cleans up what I have left behind. I feel blessed that he accepts me for who I am. I know too many men out there who would be barking orders or criticizing their wife's work. What's the point. Its just snow. As long as we keep picking it up and moving it to the side, the work gets done. Thank you dear husband for being the wonderful man you are.

So for the fun of it; I decided to make Ginger Syrup in order to make home-made ginger ale. My kids love ginger ale so why I have never made it before, I do not know. It will be even better when I get to the store for fresher sparkling water. My glass is a tad flat but delicious none the less

Ginger Syrup for Home-made Ginger Ale

2 cups water

2 cups sugar (I used the raw kind)

1 hand sized chunk of ginger, peeled and sliced

Bring all ingredients to a boil. Simmer for 15 minutes. Cool for 20 minutes. Run through a sieve. The syrup should last for a couple of weeks. Add to sparkling water to taste.

There is something so satisfying about the car wash. You sit back, relax, listen to music or the brushes and spray. You pop out the other end all nice and clean. Its like being scrubbed with giant linguine. What could be better than that?

I went away for a while and I am sad to see that my old blog has completely disappeared. Nothing, it's like being zapped from the earth. I am going to try again, though this can truly be a total time suck. It will be fun to see what a few years has done to my creativity, my writing, etc. I might just be a boring old lady now.
